Isn't Kwanza a holiday fabricated in the 60s? If so, why wasn't an older celebration used instead?

Sadly, there is no equivilant that is older. Anyway, traditions have to start somewhere. And Christmas was started to distract people from Winter Solstice Celebrations.

kwanza is a fabricated holidy , fabricated by a black college professor. problem with getting a strictly black celebration would be from where ??? the blacks in this country have no roots..tribal that is so what would be a celebration for the kikuyu wouldnt be for the masai etc.

Kwanzaa was founded in 1966 as an African American and Pan-African holiday. There is no equivalent "older" holiday.
