The place that I work at has so many workers that are poltically correct. They want to be right. You are the one that is wrong. Welcome to my world. And once again my coworkers and I have a heated discussion. They say Happy Holidays. I say Merry Christmas. What is your outlook on this?

No profanity please. Just give an honest opinion.

At work I would say "Happy Holidays" because some people may be Jewish...to my family I would say "Merry Christmas" since they all celebrate Christmas

In the traditional sense, Merry Christmas is very common in the U.S, and most places arount the world. But by saying that, you have to look deeper into the words. Merry Christmas is only directed to one day; Christmas. While Happy Holidays refers to all of the upcoming holidays ( Christmas, New Years, Ect... )

Anyone who wants to be politically correct has no balls (oh god...that wasn't politically correct to say, was it?). Who cares if one says Merry Christmas or Feliz Navidad or Froh Weihnact or Happy HOlidays. Why not some sense of reality and realize that whatever one says, the meaning is still there: God bless you and have a great christmas.

Well they say to be PC you should say Happy Holidays. However, there would be no holidays if it were not for Jesus Christ. I say Merry Christmas. If it offends someone then so be it. There is probably a reason that they are getting offended because they need to come to know the true meaning of the season. If someone tells you it offends them for you to say it that way...simply tell them it offends you not to!

Y'know EVERYONE knows that Happy Holidays really *means* Christmas - Hannukah is a very minor holiday in the Jewish religion and in fact is barely celebrated in Israel.

Say Merry Christmas if you prefer. I get tired of this kind of veiled speech, too.

Merry Christmas, there would be no holiday season according to the western world without Christmas.

I think they probably say Happy Holidays because maybe they are unsure of who celebrates Christmas. So they say Happy Holidays so they don't offend the people who do not celebrate Christmas.

Merry Christmas

Tell them that Merry Christmas is your beliefs and that Happy Holidays is offensive to you.

I say Merry Christmas. That is what I believe. Me saying that to someone else does not force them to celebrate Christmas. I am not pushing my beliefs on them, unless they are so small minded and easily offended to think so. Now if I knew that some one was Jewish, I would proably tell them Happy Hannakah, out of respect. I would not be offended if someone told me Happy Hannakah. Nor would I be offended by a Jewish store owner who told me Happy Hannakah, or had Hannakah decoractions. In fact, if Walmart started selling Hannakah stuff, I would not care, as long as they call it Hannakah stuff. It is insane to me that I can no longer buy a Christmas Tree, It is now a Holiday tree. I mean, What other Holiday celebration uses a tree, how over the top is that.

I think that all this PC crap has gotten out of way out of hand. Nobody is forcing anyone to believe in Jesus. Even if I say Merry Christmas, it does not mean that you have to celebrate. If I were you, I would just go on saying Merry Christmas, especially to those small minded Politically Correct types. Or you can use the catch all- Merry RamaHanaKwanzMas

I have a part-time job in retail (full-time job is in an office) and management wants us to say Happy Holidays to the customers. I say back to the customer whatever they say to me. Saying Happy Holidays is generic but so many people enjoy Christmas whether you celebrate it or not. I get wished Happy Mother's Day and I just say thank you (I don't have any kids except for my 4-legged ones - my pets). People shouldn't be so sensitive.

The most PC is Happy Holidays but still you have to be careful because you never know what weirdo's you'll say that to and get yelled at. Where i work we have to answer the phone happy holidays and some lady started yelling at me saying that in her religion they didn't celebrate any holidays. But i still say Happy Holidays is your best bet. So On that note HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Because of the situation in this country

with religions, it is proper to just say..

Happy Holidays...

Christmas refers to the birth of Jesus

Christ and many people do get offended..

But..let me say, that these are the same persons

that love presents, $$, free foods, and get bonuses

because of our Christmas holidays.

I personally say Merry Christmas.

Especially if they say happy honika (sp?) or something like that. If they say that, what's the problem with saying Merry Christmas?

Why do most people say "That'll offend the Muslims!" or "That'll offend the Jews!" Why can't people say "That'll offend the Christians!"?

Happy hollidays! Is more appropriate cos not everyone believes in Christmas. But more correct to say Happy holidays cos whether you like it or not, it is a holiday period.

you should be able to say what you want to say but it doesnt always work that way. so the politically correct way is happy holidays save the merry x-mas for friends and fam.

Both. I always say Happy Holidays to include every belief. I always have.

Those who say "Merry Xmas" to me gets a "Merry Xmas" right back at them.

I have no problems saying HH or MC. Its all up to your own preference.

Part of me wants to start throwing people off by saying "Have a great Saturnalia!" but I haven't done that yet.

Say MC if that's what you want. Tough for the people who are soooo offended by two simple words of greetings for the holiday season.

Happy Holidays!

I say Merry Christmas, and all of my decorations outside my house say Merry Christmas. I am not trying to please all the people of the world and not offend people.
