Grandma's 70th Birthday Ideas?
?

So, My Grandma's Birthday is in February of next year.
I know, Its kinda early to be planning this, but my family plans things ahead.
My Grandma is turning 70 and we want to throw her a great party.
We would invite some family friends and most of the family.
There would probably be a lot of people there considering she has 5 sisters and 5 brothers still living.
We would like it to be a suprise birthday if possible.
It would have to somewhere inside.
And well she is confined to a wheel chair becaus she has bad knees and can barely walk, But she is the sweetest person ever.
So I just need ideas on the place, and how we could surprise her. Any extras would be great!

I'm kind of glad you think about your family.

Congrrats for your grandmother btw ! :)

When my grandma turned 70 * 20 years ago .. I wasn't alive then .. XD * , they set up the party in a fancy hall . They put all the kinds of music she likes, and all the kind of foods she likes . They secretely invited all of her relatives and friends from both Italy, and the United States, since she(and everyone else who planned the party) is Canadian . They all showed up .

She's turning 97 this year , and we're doing the same thing .. except we're bringing her on a cruise , because she never got to travel in her life, so she'd be very grateful .

Just tell you're grandmother that there's someone ( or something ) very special she needs to visit , and try to convince her . Then drive her to the hall and let her have a great time. :)

We just had my Grandmother's 90th birthday party last Sunday and I can tell you right now that the most important thing is to have as many family and friends show up as humanly possible.

You could hold the party in a damp cave and it wouldn't matter because of the joy of having EVERYONE there.

I MEANT to have a photo slide show of a TON of photos that I would scan in to my computer but it was more than I could do because I hurt my wrist last year and I didn't realize how much pain doing that much photo editing would cause.

So I took as many photos as I could and scanned them in to my computer, then printed them up and had them scattered on every table and a BUNCH on display around the cake table.

I had pictures from my grandma's first baby picture to pictures of her holding each child to her wedding pictures.

It made many people cry.

And since they were all just copies, not to mention that they were enlarged copies, cleaned up a bit with Paint.net, people could take them home or ask for copies and even spill stuff on them and no one minded because they were not the originals.

Call AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN and see if you can scan their OLD OLD OLD pictures in to the computer and make copies.

OH! And I found contact info for Presidents Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, and Obama and they all sent happy birthday letters to my grandmother!

Let me go find the contact info... BRB.

Oh! Also, don't send out the requests until close to her actual party... It took about a week for the letters to arrive in the mail and they were dated on the day they were printed so you don't want something saying "August 1, 2010" when her birthday isn't until Feb 2011!

You can use the mailing addresses but I found it much easier to fax them in... And as you can expect, it was MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to get the letters through to the non-sitting presidents than it was to get the letter to go through to the White House so be prepared to try faxing Obama time and time again until it goes through.

I liked the fact that I got 2 conservatives and 2 liberals to keep EVERYONE in the family happy... Go with that... You don't realize how pissed off a liberal can be if you get the two Bush's and don't have 2 Liberals to offset them... Even though I DID have clinton, not having Obama's on the day of the party actually caused a bit of an issue with my uncle and his wife.

Oh, and I emailed Clinton... Let me look up his website.

Darn... I'm not 100% sure this is the right page... Try emailing them and I'm sure they can provide you with the proper contact information. The woman I dealt with through email was very very nice and extraordinarily helpful.

I got that info when I emailed the Clinton Library, clinton.library@nara.gov

This is the letter I sent in:

"Hello, Long story short, my grandmother, *name*, is turning 90 years old on *date* and we will be having the party on *date* and I was told that if I requested it, I could get a letter wishing my grandmother Happy Birthday from the president. (I said this for both X Presidents and Obama)

She has a long history of supporting our democracy and in the 1970’s and in to the 1980’s volunteered her property in Chicago to be a polling location, *address*.

Would it be possible to have Mr. *president* send her a 90th birthday letter? I understand it will most likely be a form letter with an auto pen, but it would mean so very much to her if something could be sent.

If it can be mailed to my home, I would like to present it to her myself while she is in town. I truly hope that this is possible since making 90 years old in good health is such a rare and wonderful thing.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide!

Sincerely,

*The Space Kitth*"

Whatever you do, she will love it... Congrats on her making 70!

Good Luck!
