What did you get for Christmas???

I got to experience Christmas in Costa Rica. My husband and I are here for a short sabbatical and a family invited us to spend Christmas Eve with them. It was beautiful. About 25 family members all joined in one home for a great dinner with the young people dancing and everyone enjoying each other. At midnight, the mother of the home brought down from upstairs a model of the baby Jesus. Everyone kissed the baby welcoming Him to the world. Then she placed him in the manger (in Costa Rica, Christmas trees are NOT the big thing, rather Nativity Scenes are in every household). Everyone greets each other with “Feliz Navidad” and then the children get to open their gifts.



This family was so open and caring toward us. Their love and friendship was the best gift of the season!

My four month old rolled over for the first time to grab an ornament on the tree. Oh and a sewing machine. I liked what Alli did the best. :)

Wow you got a lot of stuff girl... I got a dvd player for my car, a ring, a stand up jewelery box, some clothes, perfume, lot's of little stuff. Didn't have anything to take back which was great!!! I hate that part....
