Is it okay to say "Happy 9/11"?

Today is the 11th year of commemorating the events of 9/11/2001. How long will it take before people are saying "Happy Heroes Day" or "Happy 9/11"? People now say "Happy Memorial Day", "Happy Pearl Harbor Day", and "Happy Good Friday" and those holidays are not celebrating happy moments, but they commemorate death and sacrifice.

If it's okay to say "Happy Pearl Harbor Day" and "Happy Memorial Day", then why do people get mad if someone says "Happy 9/11"? It's my little way of pointing out the hypocrisy of forgetting the true meanings of Pearl Harbor Day, Memorial Day, and Good Friday, but when I say "Happy 9/11", folks look angry enough to rip my head off. How come they can't see my point, my sarcasm, my freedom of speech?
I mean, if it becomes a federal holiday, in decades to come, people will spend their time eating barbecue, or spend their time on one last time to the beach for the summer, as the harsh memory fades of what happened in New York City that day. Am I right?

I see your point, but your comments of “Happy 9/11” would be more acceptable if enough time had passed and the pain, memory and events of 2001 become the footnote in history that it seems the Alamo, Pearl Harbor, The Maine, etc., have become. If right after the battle of the Alamo, someone had said “Wouldn’t this make a great tourist attraction?”, he might have been shot. Or if after the Pearl Harbor attack, someone had said “Oh, happy Pearl Harbor”, it would have made folks angry. But now, nobody even blinks if someone makes jokes about The Alamo or says “Happy Pearl Harbor”. See what I mean? It’s too soon for anyone to say “Happy 9/11” just yet, since so many survivors are still alive.

I think the whole issue was overblown in the media. A building falls over, like, two million people die and for the next 13 years whenever someone seems "happy" on 9/11 they get labled as sociopaths. We didn't get occupied by china, the country is fine, nobody died….who was important, and yet we still make a big deal out of it. I personally think it would be hilarious if a plane crashed into the 9/11 memorial. I could care less, I was trying to watch the wiggles when it happened and my mom just HAD to change the channel to look at a pile of rubble. Is it really a big deal? I don't think so. The terrorists were trying to cause TERROR, and thats exactly what happened. A pox upon anyone who still thinks it's "too soon"
