My roommate's mom got me an expensive purse for Christmas that I don't like...what to do?

If you're concerned how your roommate will react, I'd say be straight with them about it. Otherwise you have a purse you'll be forced to use just to make someone happy. As a rule, doing things you don't want to do in order to please someone else leads to problems.

Neither of the above options are going to get it done without hurting your roomate and her mothers feelings. I would "Accidentally" sabotage the purse so that you can not use it. If your roomate agrees that the purse is garbage then you might be able to sell it on eBay or give to someone else who might have a need for it that is not in your circle of friends.

1. give it back kindly and say it was a nice thought but you don't need it or

2. sell it on ebay or sumfing like dat

I agree sale it on Ebay and when she ask thats your biggest problem. You can't lie forever so you could give it back and tell her why your giving it back but be nice.
