I believe Monday is the beginning of the week because ..on the 7th day He rested...which is the Sabbath...which is Sunday. Sunday is the last day of the weekend and Monday is the first day of the work week. This is what I have always believed but recently I have been told that Sunday is actually the first day of the week. Does anyone know the real answer?

It begins on Sunday

When I was looking up the answer I found a question that asked the same thing. I will copy the answer on here and than put the question below so you can look at on your own.

Here is the answer

This is interesting. The beginning of the week is actually sunday, but for some reason, people start it on Monday. This actually ties into religion and the way the christian ideas were interpreted. Saturday is supposed to be the day of rest...because it is the seventh day. (Basically, what Sunday is to us...was originally Saturday). Catholics were actually the ones to change this. People attended church on Saturday just as we do on Sunday, and then on Sunday, when they started their week, they would have have like...a quick little prayer time in order to basically pray that their week goes well and that they remember what they learned on Saturday. When Christianity formed, the Catholics attempted to try and get further from the Jewish beliefs. Well, Jews have their day of rest on Saturday and have that extra prayer time on Sunday. The Catholics decided to have only one prayer day and stopped Saturday service and pushed it to Sunday for the purpose of not mixing Christianity with Judaism. Just a bit of history for you :) Calenders are developed by cultures and religions. The Jewish calender is different from the christian calender. We follow the christian calender and that's how it became what it is today.

think of it this way , according to the bible god worked for 6 days creating our world . on the 7th day he rested . with me so fare ? why would he begin his week with a day of rest ? Sunday was the last day of his week . so he rested , that makes Monday the first day of the week . are we to start off our week with a day of rest or would we end our week with a day of rest ? the first day of the week is Monday .
