I was just wondering peoples thoughts on this and if anyone out the has done it themselves?

The thing is, me and my small circle or mates have been on holiday in the past to spain and greece, but its always drinking holidays and that's all they're interested in. Me on the other hand I enjoy sight seeing and learning about different cultures, I'd love to go and visit places such as Toronto, Quebec, the Rocky Mountains and Niagara falls in Canada to exploring Sydney and the Outback of Australia.

No this is not weird at all. There are many many people that do this every year. Just think of it in the same way as if you were to go out on a shopping trip, everyone does this at some point on there own. It just seems a bit odd to do a holiday on your own because it is generally seen a s something that is done in with a group of friends or a partner, but that is far from the truth. I know a lot of friends who have traveled Australia for a year or 2 as a gap year. When out there they ALL made a handful of friends along the way. Sometimes it is the best way to meet new people because who and when you meet these new people is entirely up to you as you only have yourself to worry about. Plus not to mention the fact that when your are on these holidays the whole time you are there is your own time, you can do what you want and when you want. I would definitely advise that you do this, and as far as doing it alone, i would not worry about this at all. If anything it is almost the norm to travel alone and then meet new people along the way (people who will share the same interests and thoughts as you).

I think it's not wierd...on the contrary i think that it could be an amusing way to know new people and to discover a lot of new things about different cultures!!!!!

I'm italian and i love travelling very much!!! and like you....i adore discovering new things, visiting new places. and my dream, at the moment, is going to America next summer because i'd like to learn english, to visit the famous american cities. I absolutely want to make this trip next summer, but there is a problem...my small circle of friends could not come with me...so..i suppose that I will make this trip alone....but this will not stop me!!!! it's a new experience..There is one thing I've learned up to now: you must always let go because only by doing this you can learn to live and to fend for yourself!...so...come on!!! ;) ; )
