Real, fer shure. The smell of fresh pine means it's Christmas (to me) I couldn't be without it! I used to feel bad about killing the tree, but they are grown especially for this purpose and can be recycled afterwards.

While real trees may be deemed to be more in the spirit, artificial trees are much more convenient. They don't drop needles, they don't need watering, and they don't get sap everywhere. You can also buy artificial trees with the lights already on them, reducing the pain of untangling lights each year.

When you buy artificial, you can also be guilt-free that you bought a tree that was killed for nothing more than decoration.

If you do buy real, make sure you buy the kind that have their root ball wrapped in a burlap sack, so you can plant it after Christmas. This also make for great memories as your Christmas tree is always around and growing!
