Why is the calendar month of August the ONLY month in the USA without a designated holiday ?

Keep in mind I am speaking for national or designated USA holidays that are not in the month of August. Why is that ? Serious answers only please.

I think it's simply that nothing happened.
Labor day is the 1st Monday in September to not only show what it means but also like this is one last fling before summer ends.

Because August is hot and gross and no one wants to be outside celebrating. Unless you count school starting a holiday. However I'm pretty sure most people would disagree with you on that one.

so people can work work work! in my opinion. other than that, i dont see why there should be, unless something great has happened. but its history. oh well.
